Civil War Sword, Foot Infantry Officer\'s Sword, Pattern 1850.  The blade is marked \"C. Roby & Co.\" (see photo).  The gilt French style hilt and slotted knuckle guard are in excellent condition as well as the covered grip and twisted gilt wire.  The 32\" blade is slightly curved and etched with a Federal Eagle, the initials \"U.S.\" and \"Union\" with floral motif.  The back of the blade is marked \"Iron Proof\".  The black leather scabbard is trimmed with gilt mounts and is missing the bottom 6\".  Overall, a nice honest Civil War sword.
