Collins U.S. Navy Model 1861 Whitney- Plymouth Rifle Saber Bayonet:

Collins saber bayonet, brass hilt, for the Whitney-Plymouth rifle. Bayonet is very nice, clearly marked Collins Co. Hartford Conn on the reverse riccasso. The top of the brass grip bears the number 125. Lug lock and spring are strong and intact. The scabbard is appears to be blacked or tarred canvas, with the brass drag and throat. The throat stud is missing. The blade length is 22.5\" with an overall length of 27.25\". The throat of the barrel socket measures internal diameter of 0.913\". The blade is smooth, unsharpened, with some slight corrosion pockets. The unit was on display in our South Carolina Civil War Museum for 19 years.
