The information provided with this item states it is an iron scissors found in Sweedens Cove Tennessee.Soldiers carried items like this for sewing and cutting their hair. Sounds simple to us but for a soldier in the field hundreds of miles from home they were precious! An internet search said that the Union surprised the Confederate Cavalry and sent them running. Reports from both sides said the Confederates were in camp eating when the Union came up on them. A brief stand was made then the Confederates ran out of the area throwing down their weapons and equipment. Terry\'s Texas Confederate Cavalry was part of this battle, cool piece of history! One site showed the Confederate graveyard were the twenty Confederates that were killed are buried in Sweedens Cove.
