This past winter in March my wife and I decided to take a vacation from the long horrific winter and went to North Myrtle Beach, Carolina. We had a nice stay at Bay Watch Resort. The weather was cool but better than where we had come from. I took my metal detector and had some fun. Found a few coins and bottle caps, but nothing to brag about. On the way back we decided to take some back roads and ran across an estate sale and what a sale it was. I bought this knife with a few others from her husbands collection. I also purchased some other Civil War relics like a cannon ball, a shadow box of bullets, sword pieces, knives, all from a local battlefields years ago when her husband used to hike and collect. This knife measures 17 inches total length, blade 12 3/8 inches, 1 1/2 inches wide except in the middle where it has been worn from use and is slightly less for a few inches and the thickness is 1/4 inch, clip point 3 1/2 inch. The sheath fits tight and is in good condition. Leather is still subtle. The tin end of the sheath has come apart approximately 2 inches at where it was leaded but it still fits tight. The guard is slightly loose expected for its use and age. This piece is definitely the real deal but without a story from the previous owner.
