This is an original letter dated January 22, (no year on letter, but research attached says 1862), from Geo. W. Brummett, a confederate soldier, to his brother. Two page letter (front & back) on one 7 3/4\" by 9 3/4\" sheet of faded blue paper. Mentions missing possum and rabbit hunting; wants his brother to have his pup well trained by the time he gets back; hears talk of peace before long; has not had a chance to fight Yankees; mentions the sunny South. Also included is some information about George W. Brummett which was included when I got this. He was listed as a POW and is buried in the Rock Island Prison Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Letter is in good condition, a little foxing and spotting (see photos), but no tears or other damage. A very unique addition to a Civil War collection.
