It has two RAID0 configured solid state drives that doubles the speed to a 830 MB/s seq. read speed and a 780 MB/s seq. write speed. Its Core i7-4900MQ along with its AMD FirePro M5100 with 2GB GDDR5 video card provide exceptional computing power. The RAID0 configuration in this one makes this much much faster than same model laptops without it because the slowest link, the hard drive setup is close to double that of a single solid state drive. These drives are configured in a RAID0 setup so that they act as one 512 GB SSD drive. The data is interlaced between the 2 drives which effectively doubles the speed of the drives because they are written to concurrently. This has a hardware RAID controller (not software, a very, very big difference), something that is very rare to find on a laptop.Note: I have been selling machines with solid state drives for a while now and know that Plextor and LiteOn (the same brands Dell uses for this model) are more reliable than most brands. Firstly, they are made in Taiwan and not China. Most importantly these drives actually perform at the speeds in which they are advertised, whereas most other brands fraudulently base their speed rating on data comprised of all zeros. Thus even when they claim a 500 MB/s seq. read speed, their actual read speed when reading uncompressible data (real world data) can be as low as 220 MB/s (typically they are around 360 MB/s where as this machine reads seq. at around 830 MB/s). The original packaging and disks are not included. A licensed version of Acronis True Image 2015 is included and installed in case you would ever have to recover from a virus or drive failure. It is the preferred way to recover from failures because it recovers everything (OS, Programs, Settings, and Files). Also, cosmetically this has signs of normal use such as there are some minor scratches on the cover, paint has worn from some case areas, and there is a tiny chip out of the bottom cover that is not easily noticed (See photo). This laptop has been refurbished by me, and not someone working in a sweatshop. I take my time with these to ensure that they are as good as new. Specifically I had to replace the motherboard on this one. Since the motherboard replacement back in April 2015 many hours were put on this testing this with diagnostic tests in addition to testing it out in the field before I upgraded the hard drives to a RAID0 solid state drive configuration. Since the RAID0 upgrade about a fifty more hours were put on it because this was used as a lender laptop to high profile customers who could not afford to have down time. The more expensive the laptop the more time I put in to ensure a high degree of confidence that it will not fail.
