Eddie Apodaca is a Squamish Nation Carver who was born in 1969 in Squamish,BC and takes the Bear, the elder kinsman, as his family crest. He wasraised the traditional way, learning about his heritage and culture, such ashunting, fishing, singing, dancing, and beading.

Eddiehas been carving for over 20 years and first began carving withSquamish Nation artists Earl Lewis and Jacob Lewis, but is mostly self-taughtand carves in the Northwest Coast style.

Eddie specializes in intricate wood carvings of manydifferent formssuch as plaques, bowls, poles, masks, rattles and talking sticks.

Animal themes are the most common element in Eddie’s work with specialattention to detail. These carvings may have a natural finish, be stainedor hand painted. He is especially known for his detailed Hummingbirdplaques that are seen in many local ArtGalleries and Gift Shops in the Vancouver area.
