Experimental 1912 U.S. Cavalry Belt For M-1903 Rifle:
$400.00

Up for sale is an experimental 1912 US Cavalry belt. These were designed as a system to be used by mounted soldiers on horseback. The ring on the belt is hinged to fold up at a 90 degree angle. The muzzle of a M-1903 rifle would then be inserted from the bottom through the ring and the hook would be snapped around the rifles trigger guard, thus allowing the rifle to be carried on the soldiers side. The butt stock of the rifle would then have been inserted into a \"boot\" on the saddle when the soldier was mounted on his horse. The thought for this system was that the rifle would always be with the soldier when they dismounted their horses. This particular belt was made in May of 1918 by the Russell company. Very few of these belts are in existence and even fewer saw action in combat. This example appears to be one of those belts that was never issued or saw little use, therefore it is in near excellent condition.

Please ask all questions prior to committing to purchase as all sales are final. Due to a few dishonest buyers in the past who have tried to return items they damaged themselves or tried to return items that weren\'t even the same item that was sent to them, I will not accept returns unless a mistake is made on my end (for example, I send you the wrong item). The item shown in the pictures is the exact item you will receive and will be shipped in the exact condition as shown. I know I\'m always anxious to get an item that I\'ve ordered, so I try to ship all items via USPS within 12 hours of your payment being received and a tracking number is always provided. Please allow time for the tracking information to be updated by USPS. They are the government after all, and sometimes it takes them a while to get around to doing things. *USPS has been known to skip tracking updates for items sent via non-priority mail (ie: first class mail), so please don\'t have a melt down if it seems like your item hasn\'t moved for a couple days.* Please know that I have NO control of the item once it leaves my possession. Keep in mind... Roads flood. Highways ice over. Trucks break down. Holidays come and go. Sometimes USPS makes mistakes and sends packages in the wrong direction. Unfortunately I can\'t control the weather or unexpected events and occasionally deliveries can be delayed. It\'s not the end of the world, just be patient and you\'ll have your item in a few days. If your item is late, contact me and I\'ll work with you on trying to locate your package. Please be patient while the United States Post Office does it\'s work.
