A great condition Pre-CBS 1964 Black-Face Vibro-Champ.

This great little amp will give you that perfect mid-sixties \"clean\" bell tone but also that great classic breakup, as well as it\'s signature vibrato (tremolo.) This is the Pre-CBS blackface control panel and silver sparkle grill cloth. Serial number \"A 02331” stamped onto chassis. Also \"Fender Electric Industry Co.\" on face of amp indicates 1964 production and the PT and OT Transformer date codes are 1964.

A great time capsule. Beautiful sounding and quite clean, this little tone box is in very good condition. Recently serviced, the original 2 prong power cable has been replaced with a 3 prong cable, and all the electrolytic caps and a few drifted resistors have been replaced. The vibrato depth pot was not working with some bad spots and wasreplaced. The input jacks have also been updated - the older ones were corroded and were contributing a lot of noise. When I got it it was missing the original 8” speaker and it was replaced with a Ted Weber signature Alnico 4 ohm speaker. The original power transformer and OT date to 1964, and all the repairs have not changed it’s original tone. Sounds great with nice and strong vibrato, cool cleans and nasty breakup when dimed. While not an all-original museum piece, this is a players amp and produces a great sound and loads of mojo. Tubes are as follows: RCA 5Y3GT Rectifier, RCA 6V6GT Power Tube, Sovtek 12AX7 Vibrato tube and a RCA 12AX7A Preamp tube.Includes a Fender foot-switch for vibrato.

This is a previously used 51 year old amp and so it has some inherent bumps and scrapes. The black tolex covering is in very good condition. The original tube layout sticker has been torn and about 1/2 of it remains. Speaker cloth is correct and in very good shape with vintage aging. Some rust and pitting on the chassis. All of the removed original parts except the speaker are available and will be included at purchasers request. Please view all the pictures before offerding.
