The top, bottom and side panels are a beautiful BURLWOOD grain finish. The edges have a woven-like trim around the perimeters on top and bottom which feels like its made out of turned wood.Note that the bottom is flat, allowing the box to stand upright on its own, handy for placing on shelves, or in tight spaces.Has 2 screwed-on metal hinges on the back, and brass edging on the hinged corners.2 leather straps (look and feel like leather to me, but they might be simulated, not certain, at any rate they are quite attractive and look exactly like leather) on each side of the lid have buckle type closures (decorative) with snap-cap closure. These are Sewn onto the lid along with the brass studs.Also, pivoting through-bolt lock further secures the lid.Carry HandleColor is a honey tan or buckskin (actually quite similar to this color of type)Approximate size: 14\" across x 11 1/4\" x 6\" deep.ORIGINAL COST of this box from a San Francisco fine clothier and hat seller, was $129.00, many years ago, would probably be much more now, if one could find it, due to the wood construction and extensive trim.CONDITION: This is new old stock, having been stored unused for many years.
