I bought this barrel in 1973 to make a Kentucky type long rifle,but never used it. It has been stored indoors, packed in cosmoline, for 40 years.It is unfinished; the breech plug is installed, but no sight grooves or lugs are installed. I recently removed the cosmoline and cleaned the bore. The bore is perfect.The exteriorhas somediscoloration from the cosmoline, and there are a few small dings on the octogon flats (see photos). It needs to be smoothed, finished, and blued or browned. G R Douglas barrels are high quality; it should make a very good shooting rifle.
