I have held off listing this of this porcelain oval bowl because I wanted to find out more information about it. I have spent more time than the piece is worth trying to find the history through the backmark. The markings on the bottom of the porcelain are buried so deep in the glaze, that they can only be seen in perfect lighting with a magnifier. There is a visible small red number 96. The two words on the back mean in German \"legally registered and the backmark, which I have drawn freehand, is in one of the above pictures. I have searched through hundreds of German porcelain backmarks, to no avail. Perhaps, someone more knowledgeable than I, may know. The piece measures, L= 12in W= 8.25 in D= 2.5 in. The dish is in great condition except for a hairline crack, barely discernable, which I have tried to show in one of the pictures. It is a high quality bone China, ribbed and scalloped around the edges. The hand painting is expertly done. The Violet edge merges perfectly with the base color. I have no idea what it is worth, So I will guess at a price and encourage anyone interested to use the make an offer button.
