This trap weighs close to 40 lbs. The trap is also serial numbered. 100% hand made in the U.S.A. Master Trap Maker Ed Hutzel is the only trap maker that builds this size trap. From the Miniature dog proof traps he made all the way up to the Biggest long spring traps that were every made the No. 21 No.23 and No. 25. 8ft. long an 200lbs. His workmanship and the hand tooling on his convention traps is absolutely unmatched in the trap world. We have sold a few of these Bigelow traps in the last six months.. There will only be a limited amount of these traps made.. This is where we like to advertise our new traps to let the public see them first. Almost all trappers trap with body grips, and are very popular among trappers. Bear Trap Collectors across the U.S. are finding out these traps are Quality made and are very different then the same old reproduction long springs that all look the same. Even if you don\'t collect bear traps you will like this trap. These traps are a whole new level of trap collecting. The Big long spring traps take up a lot of room and stick out from the wall if you try to hang them, if you set them on the floor you have to walk around them. Another thing about the big traps made in the last 25 years is that they were made in the 1000s and are all made in China, This goes on more often then you think, parts are shipped in from China and put together here and they say there made in the U.S.A. Nice to hang on a wall but, very hard to get your money back out of and, ( Not Collectable ). The price will never go up on them. When seasoned Collectors here the words FOREIGN MADE this stops the sale not just in traps but guns, knives, tools, and anything else collectable, they just keep on walking. Hutzel traps are very collectable due to the fact that any trap he ever made was in Very Low Numbers and Very High Quality and (Not being made by anyone else.) These traps do go up in price. A good example is the size (E) Alexander Clutch Trap that had a 74\'\' jaw spread back in 2003 that Hutzel made and now can not be bought for $3,000.00. That is if you can even find one. Collectors that are buying his traps are hanging on to them and seldom ever come up for sale, unlike the California or Wisconsin bear traps that were made a few years back that were coming up for sale the first year sold and before they were even sold out . Hutzel traps are one of the best investments in the U.S. today. All American Made. Another thing to keep in mind is that most collector traps go up 3 to 5% every few years at tops. Where we have seen Eds traps go up as much as 100% to 500% in no time. A good example of this is the Little Alexander size (0) clutch trap that you could hold in your hand sold for $60.00 a year after sold for $300.00 at the Sidney swap meet. All of Ed\'s traps are a 1000 times more rare then any Newhouse trap that was ever made. The Animal Trap Company made more traps in a week then Ed can in a life time. Just trying to show the facts. This trap is only about 2\'\' thick and hangs flat on the wall, will display very nice in your trap room. . Spring is made of 5/16\" spring steel, rings are 3/8\" x 1 1/2\". The rod on the top and bottom of the trap is 1\" steel. ( Jaws less then 5.5 inches...................... ( Trap aofferes by all of \'s rules..)
