Very unique Gibson GB-1. Appears unmolested with the exception of the added Elton armrest. In what I would call, just about mint condition. Appears unplayed for the most part, no fret wear. Straight neck. Other than armrest and one replaced resonator lug, the rest of the hardware is original. Serial number 9420-1 OR it could be 9420-17. Either way, this was dated as per Joe Spann\'s Gibson book as a batch of 1929 GB-1 guitar banjos. The ODD thing about this instrument is the headstock logo which is very odd to see on this early of a banjo. That being said, the neck is genuine Gibson and the finish and coloration matches the resonator and rim perfectly. It appears as if this instrument was 100% built at one time and finished at one time.I cannot explain the discrepancy in the later style logo on this instrument although a guess would be that the neck had a refret job at some time and the neck seems to suggest that. The Headstock could have been redone at that time but really....it all appears original to the neck. Nothing to me, suggests that the neck was redone. And I always say....\"The only thing consistent with Gibson is their inconsistency.\"
This would make the perfect player as is for the Guitarist seeking a great vintage banjo sound or would make an excellent banjo for the basis of a conversion. In my opinion, the listed price of this instrument isn\'t much more than I could sell the WOOD alone for. $200 discount available. Ask.This is a very unique item in a condition that is rarely seen.
Please see the \"ABOUT ME\" link located next to my seller name above for direct contact information to inquire about any aspect of the banjo or arrange a time to come play it. With premium quality modern instruments costing similar or MORE (Stelling or Deering made 6 string banjos are about the same price as this vintage Gibson with built in collectibility) , this banjo compares favorably in sound, build quality and fit and easily exceeds new instruments in collectible quality. These instruments rarely go down in value...they go up over the years and are a source of both enjoyment and good monetary investment.

ATTENTION CUSTOMERS IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES....

\'S GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAM IS A DISASTER OF INCOMPETENCE AND NON ACCOUNTIBILITY. MY SUGGESTION TO YOU IS TO NOT USE IT.

I\'ve had three different shipments to foreign countries confiscated in Erlanger KY by \'s Global Shipping partner, Pintey Bowles. The items were claimed by to contain items or material that was on an Import Restriction list yet this was not true! When these items are confiscated, they are liquidated by a company calledinternational_liquidatorzhere on . The buyer of these items is promised a refund which takes WAY too long to receive (one customer waited over a month for a refund!) and the seller is simply told that the problem is \'s to deal with. I\'ve spent hours on the phone with and there is no way they will put you in contact with their shipping partner to clear things up.Its sounds like a colossal insurance scam to meand I\'m embarrassed for for the lousy job they are doing in this department. IF YOU ARE BUYING SOMETHING OF AN INSTRUMENT ASSOCIATION THROUGH THE GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAM THERE IS A HIGH LIKELIHOOD THAT YOU WILL NEVER RECEIVE IT. For this reason, I am returning to shipping items to foreign locations MYSELF as I have a FAR better track record of getting items to customers than does. I also feel that it\'s MY responsibility as a seller that you get your item.

Please beassuredthat I am an honest seller of banjo parts and instruments. I will not, as some online sellers do, try to pass off inferior parts as the genuine item. I like to buy and sell mostly Gibson Banjo related items. Please refer to the BANJO HANGOUT where I am a member in good standing under the name Lou Bourbon. I will stand behind these parts and I will never send you something that is broken (unless advertised as such) nor will I pass off low quality work as anything but the truth. Detailed pictures are always provided and I am happy to talk to you either via email or by phone about items listed for sale. Local pickup is always welcomed. Shipping is done with excellent care in packing.
