I\'ve finally come to terms with the fact that it\'s time to re-home this one-of-a-kind stunner. (I know what you\'re thinking: \"A one-of-a-kind celeste Bianchi? Gee, never seen one of those before\", but hear me out...)
This bike has been through several different builds -- the most recent addition included the twined leather tape, handlebars, \"drillium\" drop levers and stem which all has under 50 miles on it. My favorite feature (and the most unusual) are the Paul brakes -- I\'ve never used rim brakes that have such substantial stopping power.
The front wheel is a mid-level touring wheel with cartridge bearings -- I built the rear wheel with a Mavic Open Pro rim and a VO Grand Cru free hub that has a beautiful purr to it. Bearings on both hubs are happy, rim wear is modest, wheels are true.
The paint is pretty much what you\'d expect from a bike from the 80\'s, but there are no dents or rust, or anything beyond cosmetic blemishes. The frame has a spanking new cable stop for the rear derailleur after the old one got bashed in. I wasn\'t sure if the new owner would want to preserve the old paint, clear coat, or get it completely repainted, so the steel is still exposed. At the very least, it should be clear coated before being introduced to the elements. There are braze-ons for fenders, but you\'ll need to put some smaller tires on to have enough clearance.
Speaking of tires, the Jack Brown Blues that are on there now are a bit worn and will need to be replaced eventually, and the front pads have less than half wear left, but everything else is in fantastic working order. Brooks saddle and SPD pedals included if you want them, but I\'ll knock off $50 if you don\'t want the saddle. I calculated my asking price based on the amount I would make if I broke it down and parted it out, but I would much prefer to hand it over to a new owner in one piece.
