I was informed of the following by a collector.Type V (5) Veterans Membership badge. Because of the less common variant with the reversed branch insignia (cannons for artillery and anchor for Navy) I am able to date it. It is associated with the tenure of G.A.R. Commander-in-Chief John Patterson Rea (1887 - 1888), R being the prefix letter on the 4 o\'clock star ray.
