Haida Gwaii CarvedYellow Cedar Lamp with 3 sided shade.

The three sides of thelamp shade are deeply carved of 16 inch+ wide solid yellow ¾ inchcedar panels

joined together to create a magnificent representationof early Haida lifestyle.

Side one is a coastalscene with 2 lodge pole buildings flanking a large totem pole

with mountains in thebackground and shore front in the foreground.

Side two shows a nativewoman paddling a dugout canoe carrying supplies,

again with backgroundmountains and ocean shore front.

Side three depicts alodge pole building and watchtower at the mouth of an inlet

with mountains in thebackground.

All three sides of theshade are flanked by crowns of cedar trees

to create a union withthe lamp post carved to represent the tree trunk.

Surely this is the workof a Master Carver as the work is so cleverly and carefully done

to the point thatthinly carved portions of the shade will actually show light through.

One side of the shadeis signed Eglis or Eglin, I assume thecreator of this masterpiece.

The lamp is inexcellent condition, no damage

other than a couple ofsmall bumps and scratches(shown).

It measures 33 ½inches tall with the shade, 17 inches wide at the base of each sidesof the shade,

13 ¼ inches wide at each sides of the 3 cornered base,about 24 inches to the top of the bulb.

Weight 6 pounds, 13ounces.

I can reduce theshipping cost by disassembling the bulb socket

and turning the shadeover to create a much smaller shipping volume.

Shipping will bequoted on that basis.
