EXPECTED WEAR FROM AGE TO PAINT/FEATHERS. THIS KACHINA IS 11 1/2\" TALL AND 5 1/2\" WIDE AT HANDS.

The body is carved from a piece of the traditional Cottonwood - a tree that grows in washes and canyons where water is more IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF AN OLD CHAKAIWNA OR ESTEBAN THE MOORKACHINA. THIS KACHINA REPRESENTS THE SPIRIT OF THEEXPLORER, A SLAVE WHO ESCAPED AN ATTEMPTED AND FAILED COLONY IN FLORIDA, THEN LED AN EXPEDITION INTO THE PUEBLO REGION. IT IS SAID HE WAS KILLED BY THE ZUNI WHEN HEATTEMPTED TO GET SUPPLIES AND WOMEN FROM style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">FROMWIKIPEDIA: \"Estevanico(c. 1500–1539) was one of the first nativeAfricansto reach the present-day continentalUnited States.
