Give yourself a gift! This incredible, sweet Gretchen doll of a very desirable and rare reproduction of an antique K*R 114. She has a pouty expression and wears an adorablesailor dress. She has a jointed Seeley \"composition\" body. This one is veryunusual since she has wonderful hazel brown painted eyes instead of glass eyes.She is very nicely done with gorgeous painting and color, and a fraction of thecost of the sought after antique she represents. Although she was made in 1979,she was never used or played with, only displayed by me. Her provenance and descriptiondetails below. K*R stands for Kammer and Reinhardt, a high quality German dollmaker. Tightly strung and hold pose.

Provenance:About 35 yearsago, this Artistry and Old Lace doll with this signed Tricia Smith (of ColoradoSprings) head was sold to the Mystic Doll Museum in Mystic, Connecticut for $175. Of course, the museum sold them for more.

Dollartists make reproductions for collectors who cannot afford to pay thousandsfor the original rare doll. THE DOLLMAKER (Number 31) has an articleabout Artistry and Old Lace (me) and Tricia Smith\'s heads. Artistry andOld lace used the best materials available at that time, like Seeley bodies,Dollspart wigs, hand blown glass eyes.At the time, they were consideredsome of the nicest reproductions available (and they still are), and the museumhad a difficult time keeping them in stock.

When the heads of the different models arrived,I kept the one I liked best for my own collection. This is one chosen to be kept all these years because of herbeautiful modeling, painting, and clothing.
