Antique Expandable Brass & Cast Iron Bookends

\"Peacocks At The Fountain\"

This listing is for an extremely hard to find 1920\'s expandable bookrack made by JUDD Company. This is a nicely detailed book rack, absolutely genuine and authentic. Both sides are shopmarked with the Judd number 9859. The decorative end plates are made of cast iron with a brass wash. The expandable tubes are brass & easily unthread for more economical packaging in a USPS Small Flat Rate box.

This features a scene of a wall fountain with a shelf of books and a human head. The water is flowing out of the mouth of the head into a birdbath on a fluted column base. There are peacocks on either side of the birdbath. One peacock is drinking water, the other has it\'s head up swallowing water. Their long flowing tails flank each side of this scene with the classic \'peacock eyes\' in their feathered train. Fluted columns and a base with incised water droplets frame this scene.

The book rack is in excellent pre-owned condition. The finish is excellent. The rack stands straight. There are no dents, cracks, breaks, or repairs. Just a few scuffs & scratches consistent with age & use. The tubes open and close smoothly. They have threaded ends that thread into the end plates.(please see all scans)

Each side of the rack measures 4 ½\" tall x 5\" wide. The bookrack will expand from 8\" to 14\".
