Kay K-5915 hollow-body bass guitar. The number printed on the back of pickup is #052065, so I think this bass dates to 1965? Medium scale neck is straight and truss rod works correctly. Modifications: rosewood fretboard leveled; new frets; neck radius changed to 7 1/4\" (really improved on a baseball bat); new bone nut; black truss rod cover; white side dots; pots and capacitor; Sperzel bass tuners; Labella flatwounds; rosewood knobs; new black strap buttons; walnut thumb rest (can be removed with one screw). There are a few dents on back of neck; scratches, chips and dings in various places (especially sides). The checkerboard binding has been crudely repaired at one of the points. The tone pot is wired backwards. Old tuner holes and indentations are visible on the back of the headstock. Finish blemishes have been left by intonation adjustments at the sliding bridge.
In the right room, the deep bass tone from this instrument will bring remarks like \"that\'s what all basses should sound like.\" It can be eq\'d to sound similar to a doghouse bass or bumped up to sound like a common bass guitar. Weighs less than 6 lbs. Will be shipped in a padded gig bag within a box. May be subject to previous sale elsewhere.
