MATCHBOX REGULAR WHEEL 15D HERBIE VOLKSWAGEN 1500 CREAM WITH THE ORIGINAL HERBIE DECALS. These rare models were made shortly after the release of the Disney Movie, “The Love Bug”.
This is one of the first code 2\'s that Lesney allowed to be made . These were produced by UNCLE DON\'S HOBBY SHOP in Palm Springs California . Uncle Don was able to obtain blank Volkswagens directly from Lesney to produce these models. He also had Herbie decals produced at the same time. He then personally had these Herbie vehicles made. They were produced in 1970 in very limited quantities in regular wheels and a few superfast models.
You could onlypurchase them from Uncle Don\'s Toy Shop and a mail order business \"DIE CAST MINIATURES\"both located in Palm Springs, California.
Included with this purchase will be a copy of the 1971 mail order advertising the Herbie \"LOVE BIG\" for purchase.
This is a real HERBIE piece with the original decals made up by Uncle Don’s Hobby Shop. They are extremely rare and very hard to find. MODEL CONDITION = C -9.5 EDGES OF DECALS HAVE A SLIGHT YELLOW TINT FROM AGE.
ORIGINAL BOX HAS CREASING AND EDGE WEAR. ONE END HAS SOME CREASING.
