There is minor cosmetic wear typical for an item of this age. The Quad is separated into two channels sharing one common input. Each channel offers two modes and a pre-assignable 5 band graphic equalizer. Channel 1 is very similar to the Mark IIC, while Channel 2 is very much like the Mark III. The unit also has built-in reverb and an FX Loop.

The Quad is capable of dishing out anything from fender cleans to high gain thrash metal, and all tones in-between. Think Robert Plant solo albums with Robbie Blunt on guitar, and classic late-80s Metallica. Blunt used to use a Mark II on tour back in the early 80s, and it\'s been claimed that a Quad Pre-amp was actually used on the Metallica \"Justice\" album. I\'ve had good success recording with the Quad by running it direct into a computer sound card and using speaker impulse files via Apple Logic. I found that engaging the 5 band equalizer really allows for one to capture a nice metal tone.
