Military Artillary Slide Rule with Olive Drab CASE, CARRYING, M-67:
$49.99

This fascinating piece of history was found at an estate sale in Northern Indiana, along with a lot of other pieces of equipment from a WWII Pilot. This seems to be a military slide rule for aiming artillary. There are lots of clues as to what it is, but none of the usual, "made by company names, or even military designation numbers." It did come in a case labeled CASE, CARRYING M-67, which I was able to find as a specifically designed case to carry a slide rule. It's made out of heavy olive drab canvas with a fold over snap cover and belt loop on the back. Inside, the slide rule is a solid wood piece with plastic cover labeled with lots of information in red and black ink. The labels on one side say: a big letter S and an N, RANGE, 75MM Shell, FUZE, ELEV. DRIFT and G.F.T. M44, make it obvious that it's used to figure and aim artillary. There's a clear plastic slide with a line through it that moves back and forth, but no center slide part as is normal on a slide rule. The other side has a lot of the same marks other than the big letters N and R. I believe that this was an old tool for artillary crews to aim their big guns and this was replaced by computers, so it must be quite old, probably World War II Era. Size: The rule itself is 11 1/2" by 2" wide, with the slide adding another 5/8" in width. The pouch that protects it is 13" by 5" with the flap folded down
Condition: the bottom end of the pouch is slightly discolored with some darker color, visible in the last picture. The slide rule is in excellent shape, with no visible flaws at all. Please look carefully at the pictures to see the wonderful condition of this interesting piece of history.
