Fairbanks Morse trainmaster, model H-24-66 was a six-axle hood unit road switcher manufactured from 1953 to 1957. The Pennsylvania railroad had a total of nine units. All units were transferred to Penn central after the merger
Most FRS24\'swere equipped with Pennsy\'s unique trainphone antenna, an induction communiction system that predated radio usage.
Each locomotive produced 2400 horsepower from an \'opposed piston\' design diesel engine. When it was introduced, and the trainmaster as the most affluent civil engineers and available it had legendary acceleration and pulling power maintenance was difficult due to go in and electrical issues. It was years ahead of its competition from ALCO, EMD and General Electric.
This N scale model was imported by Sunset Models, built in Japan by KMT. Mint condition, no appreciable wheel wear. Tainphone condition excellent, Kadee Couplers body mounted, great pulling power. Brass gears in drivetrain for long lived reliability. Box shows slight shelf wear, all original foam inserts and wraps presnt, all excellent condition; no degradation.
Analog DC, convertible to DCC and/ or sound. Electric motor will need to be insulated from chassis with Kapton or double sided foam tape; at modeler\'s discretion. Easy to access wiring.
