Napoleonic Silvered Monocular Spy Glass by Noel Jean Lerebours Paris c. 1810:
$260.55

This is an antique silvered four-draw monocular spyglass by Noel-Jean Lerebours of Paris, the optician to Emperor Napoleon. He was also step-father of Noel Paymal Lerebours, who took over his workshop and became a noted daguerreotypist as well as an lens maker. It is signed around the eyepiece Lerebours Opt.en de l\'Emp.ur et Roi, and around the first draw Place du Pont-Neuf à Paris. The field lens is 1 1/4 inches diameter and the whole is 3 inches long extended. There is a crack to the covering of the bodytube and the smallest two draws will not stay extended when standing upright but this is only due to the leather pads having worn out. It comes in it\'s original velvet-lined, shaped leather case with hinged lid.I will be selling a collection of approximately thirty five opera glasses, spy glasses, prospect glasses, and monoculars over the next few weeks. I am happy to combine on shipping and all items are sent via insured Priority Mail, with signature confirmation where required..
