Fabulous BEAVER mask carved and painted in red cedar by First Nations artist Matthew Baker. It is 12\" in height , 10\" in width and 8 1/2\" in depth. With cedar bark tufts it measures 14\" x 14\".
Beautiful detail and lovely colors adorned with fresh cedar bark. A heavy mask. Please note when I talked to Matthew about the upper cracks in mask he advised me they would heal. Please take this into consideration before sending any offers. I am not an expert on if and how fast cracks heal. It does not take away from this knife finished beautiful mask.

Matthew Baker, Squamish Nation. Matthew is a Squamish Nation wood carver born in 1953 on the Capilano Reservation in North Vancouver, BC. His mother is from the Kwakiutl Nation and his father is Coast Salish. Matthew was taught by his father Richard, a master totem carver and was taught to carve in the Kwakiutl style. He has now been carving for over 35 years.

Matthew carves plaques, masks, rattles and totem poles in traditional Coast Salish and Kwakiutl images that employ a traditional tri-color design on unstained wood. His crisp lines and elegant combination of animal forms has helped to distinguish him as a unique and talented artist.

Matthew\'s art work can be seen in Art Galleries and Gift shops in the Vancouver area as well as private collections worldwide.
