Old Vintage Antique Brown Plush English Teddy Bear With Photo Provenance 1940's:
Lovely English Character bear with dated photographic provenance, 1947.
This teddy bear stands at 17" tall from the tips of his toes to the tips of his ears and is five ways jointed
and stuffed with kapok in his body and head with just a little wood wool in his muzzle. He is unusual
in that he has brown plush which I think is either alpaca or a mix of alpaca and mohair. The plush has faded
particularly on his top half and front but you can still see the darker milk chocolate brown colour in his joints.
There is a bare patch on the inside of his left arm and smaller bare spots elswhere but he still has a good
overall coverage and I would estimate at around 90%. The only damage is a loose joint and wobbly head
with a small repair by the joint, but it is not detached and his head is supported by his knitted scarf. He is quite an unusual looking bear with no pads on his paws and his foot pads are made from the same
plush material as the rest of him and he could possibly be a homemade bear, although he is well made
and has disc joints, so he could be by a more obscure English manufacturer, of which there were many
in post war England. He is wearing a cream and red felt waistcoat with a very snazzy red spotted bowtie
and he also has a knitted scarf around his neck. He was wearing these when he came to me and they
are obviously vintage and probably date to around the same period as the bear although he is not
wearing them in the photograph of him with his young owner John. The photo that accompanies ted is an original photograph and not a copy and it is dated on the
back 'John 1947' It is rare to find photographic provenance with any toy and it is a particularly nice
image of a proud and smiling 'John' carrying this exact bear in his arms. The photo measures 4½" x 2½".Both the bear and photo are being offered with a very low starting price
and to the highest be aware that UK postage costs for both domestic and International post are changing and rising from the 2nd of April.
I have tried to keep my postage costs as low as possible and they are often at cost price or even lower but there will be some inevitable
price raises. If I have overcharged significantly on the actual postage costs then I will refund the difference to to the UK - Special Delivery - £7.95

Postage to the rest of the world- International signed for mail - pride myself on packing my bears very well and usually send by special delivery or international signed for post.
