Older Custom Ranch Saddle - Porterville CaliforniaMade In The USA - This is an older saddle - likely from the 1950\'s or 60\'s. The leather is still in nice shape - sure, it has signs of use and age and patina, scrapes, marks in leather - but overall pretty nice as illustrated. Underside fleece is also in good shape and tree and rigging are solid. Definitely a collectible - and you could ride this saddle and use it on a horse - and look darn good doing so. The only thing I see to declare is that whatever padding is under the seat leather has become dry and \'crunchy\' over time. Great, tight stitching on seat and still looks very nice - but you can feel there is no \'bounce back\' when you push on the seat. It was used with a merino sheepskin seat cover type deal when ridden in recent years. I put pictures of this saddle out in a few groups and clubs interested in Californio Traditions and California Bridle Horse disciplines on social media to attempt to seek answers on maker etc. and I do not know who the maker is. Many horsemen chimed in some very possible ideas and suggestions on the maker but nothing that could give me a beyond a doubt statement to declare when offering for sale. This saddle was met with much admiration for its undeniable fine craftsmanship and amazing condition that has stood the test of time. It has plenty of those extra touches and detail that let you know it was always a high end saddle. Even the silver conchos are premium quality and the set on this saddle is probably worth a couple hundred on its own. Saddle was not deep cleaned or oiled. In the couple years I have had it, I have used glycerine type cleaners and Skidmore\'s leather creme on it and let it just be what it was. I do imagine some skilled leather person could do a lot more to it if they wanted, but I always thought it looked just fine as it is. MANY more photos available if you need them - especially of that tag in different lighting etc. trying to make out what it says.
