Here\'s an early farm primitive that rarely becomes available on the market! It\'s an original dog or goat powered treadmill that was used for early belt power for a small belt driven machine like a washing machine, corn grinder, or sausage grinder. It was made by George Harder in Cobleskill, New York with the last patent date on it being 1881. It is in excellent original condition as can be seen in the photos. There is a small repair on a spoke of the flywheel/pulley and there is some of the fabric belt that holds the tread together with some minor repairs on it. There are also a few of the wooden guides on the treads that have been replaced but all in all it has held up great for over 125 years! It has a good amount of original stenciling, pinstriping, and lettering still on it. There is some minor deterioration on the bottom of the legs...not bad, but I just wanted to mention it. There is a locking lever on it to set the angle of the tread for a desired speed that you would like to run your machine at. This piece displays and works very nicely and would be a fine addition to your early farm museum, collection, or display. I can ship this quite reasonably through Fastenal.
