Sword is a wakizashi blade with a total length 36 inches include scabbard.
Handle is around 8.5 inches
Blade cutting edge is 20.5”
Wakizashi were much more uncommon than katana that were used in WW2.
This sword was probably used by a Japanese pilot, or tank officer because of the short length.
Gunto military handle is old with parts of samegawa missing but not very much, the brown leather ito is wrapped pretty good & tight, blade is in ok condition but has some black pitting, tang is unsigned but is very old possible Muromachi Period but I\'m not 100% sure.
Please decide for yourself by the pictures. It also has double holes in tang. Comes with the original wooden peg for handle.
Old leather cover scabbard with some wear,stains,dirty spots.also look weak maybe not original.
