Adventure and glory await you in Pieces of Eight, the rousing combat game of rival buccaneer ships on the high seas. You play the game with a stack of metal pirate coins held in one hand that represents your ship. The coins you choose and the order in which you place them determine your ship\'s strengths, and you use the special abilities of your coins to destroy your opponent\'s coins one by one. Your goal is to expose the Captain coin buried deep in the middle of your adversary\'s ship, then take him out! Dare to enter the age of blood and gold with either The Blade or The Maiden\'s Vengeance ship set. Each set includes all the coins needed for one player to construct his own ship. Your opponents will each need their own ship set to play, but there\'s no other limit to the number of players who can join in. Pieces of Eight

Pieces of Eight is played with a handful of 13 coins that represent your pirate ship. The coins you choose and the order you stack them in determine your ship’s strengths.

As you play, you’ll use your coins’ abilities to destroy your opponents’ coins. You goal is to expose your enemy’s Captain coin, then take him out!

Coins represent all things piratical: Mates, Treachery, Cannons, Broadsides… even the Captain’s Monkey. There are 15 different types of coins in all.

In play, most of your coins will form a stack in one of your hands. That’s your ship’s deck. The front (or top) coin is your fore coin, the rear (or bottom) is in the aft of your deck. You hold one coin in your other hand. It’s in your crow’s nest.

Each type of coin has a unique ability. Your fore, aft, and crow’s nest coins are the three you can use at any given time.

Cannons can destroy coins in your enemy’s fore, for example. Or, if you have two Cannons showing, they can blow away the one behind it, too.

Destroyed coins go to your pocket — your hold, in pirate parlance — but some abilities like Barrel of Grog can get them back. Call to Quarters lets you not only recover a coin, but also secretly re-arrange your whole ship.

There are all kinds of fun and deviously effective combos, strategies, and effects to try. Each game allows you to choose a different set of 13 coins and arrange them in any order you wish.

Pieces of Eight can be played with two or more players, as well as in teams. Games take just a few minutes. Roving tournaments at conventions are great fun —pirates battles wherever they meet — and drafting coins from a common pool is a great way to play a longer game.
