Up for sale is a slab of Psaronius braziliensis, the fossil tree fern from the Permian strata of the Pedra de Fogo Formation of Brazil. Material from this locality has become more scarce in the past few years. The central deposit of the Araguaina Petrified Forest has been in Brazilian National Park Status for quite a long time but there were adjoining ranches that also had petrified wood and harvested it for lapidary treatment and export. It is our understanding that these adjoining areas have now all been added to the National Park and that no collecting areas remain for collection. We especially like this slab because of thecolor combinations on the polished face.Tree ferns don\'t have \"trunks\" as the term is usually used and applied to trees. Rather, the central core is an amalgamation of frond traces all of which are held together in a rigid column by tiny hairs that keep them together and functioning as a \"trunk\". This specimen measures 5.5 x 4 incheson the polished face and it is11/16 inch thick.We are certain that \"old stock\" of this material in the future will become much more expensive!
