RARE SMALL Blue/Aquamarine NOVA GEM 1915 TOWER OF JEWELS:
$157.50

A stunning piece of History, sale is for a RareSMALL7/8\" or 22mmBlue/Aquamarine Nova Gem. This is notthe \'souvenir\' Novagems that are marked \'NovaGem Official Souvenir\'. This Novagem wasactually used on the Tower of Jewels and it\'s brass handle was long ago broken off.The The Tower of Jewels was the 435 Foot Tall Centerpiece Building of the PPIE. Itwas taller than the other fairbuildings by a couple of hundered feet, and was positioned at the Main Scott Street entrance to the fair. The primary outstanding feature of the buildingwas how it was decorated with 102,000 NovaGems--faceted cut glass jewels that hung over the buildings surface. As these jewels freely hung from thesides of the building, the breezes would make them independently sway, causing the to shimmer in a way that people say was impossible to describe. Thus, this Nova Gem does have some chips and scratches. This effect was further increased at nighttime when an assortment of 54 searchlights hidden around the tower were pointed towards it,creatinga spectacular sparkling impression. The Novagems are mounted in brass hangers and the prongs are about 1/8\" wide and tall.
Please checkmy other sales as I havea large Nova Gem for sale and a very rare PPIE teapot; also other PPIE memorabilia.
