Up for your consideration is one Vintage Packard BellGilligan\'s Island AR-851 Transistor Radio.
The radio is an AR-851 Packard Bell model made in Japan. For Gilligan’s Island, the prop department added a handle and an antenna, as it is just an AM 8 transistor radio. (No external antenna is needed for AM radios). Looking at the show, it seems as if they used two radios during the series, as one is white and the other one looks beige. The radio is pretty nifty and has two battery holders that is seen in the episode where the castaways were trying to recharge the batteries using coconut shells and sea water. The radio uses 4 D cell batteries.
This radio is in AMAZING condition with no cracks or chips. This radio works and can pick up multiplechannels. The two original battery tubesare in EXCELLENT condition with all of the markings. The battery compartment is REALLY clean withno corrosion or evidence of leaking batteries through the years. This radio is NOT missing tuning dial Insert which is typically a common issue. If you are looking for a perfect sample of aGilligan’s Island radio, this is it. TheAR-851 came in many colors and this one is light tan. Supposedly on Gilligan\'s Island they used both a white radio and a tan radio on different episodes per the following link. Therefore, this radio is very desirable for folks that are looking for one like the show.
I am also providing a handle and an antenna that I have installed if to make this radio look like the one used on Gilligan\'s Island. I am also providing a handle which will be installed. Also included is an extra handle with the required screws so you will have an extra one.
