RARE WW2 M82 LYMAN SNIPER SCOPE FOR M1C, M1D AND O3A4 RIFLES

This sale is for an original M82 Sniper scope made byLyman (based on the serial number. Thisscope wasdesigned for use on the M1C Garandwhich was used in WW2 and Korea. It was also used as a lim ited standard replacement on the M1D Garand and during the Korean war as the standard scope for the arsenal re-furbished Springfield 03A4 rifles.

The M82 Scope was primarily made by Lyman with approximatily 14,000produced, as demand was high for this scope during both wars. This scope is serial numbered 35042,whichwould put it somewhere in the earlier production of Lymanscopes. The tube carries part number C7674029. The adjustment capsare Numbered A7575180. (possible a Wollensak cover) and 7575180. The Block Bases are both numbered 7634671. The rear cap where the RubberEye piece goes is numbered 7634670. The sliding shade on the front of the scope is numbered 7640805. The tapered post sight is still crisp and clear to see through theamazingly clean lenses.

This scope comes with the original cardboard and Marvelseal wrapper from when it was put into storage. The Marvelseal wrapper is dated November, 1965 (11-65). Both have matching pencil annotations of the serial number. There is some light wear to the blued finish. Mostly on the raised ribbing. There are some light marks where the sliding shade touches the Block Bases, and faint wear where a set of rings once was. Other than that the finish is pristine. all the part numbers are crisp and precise as are the nomenclature stampings. It appears that this was removed from a mount and put into storage by the Army where it sat until sold as surplus.

You would be hard pressed to find a better example of an M82 scope than this one. Don\'t miss this chance to complete your CMP M1C or M1D rifle or Korean War03A3.
