RS Prussia china shaving mug cup RSP mold 502 Morning Glory artist signed tulips:
$75.00

Offered is this lovely and unusual RS Prussia china mug or cup in the Morning Glory mold RSP 502. This mug is hand painted and artist signed. It is decorated with pink tulips and green foliage with sponged gold trim. The rim of the cup is pink while the handle is mint green. The handle and rim are heavily gilded.

The porcelain whiteware is unsigned but the mold is pictured on page 29 of Leland and Carol Marple’s book “RS Prussia: The Art Nouveau Years.” It dates to about 1900.

During this time period, hot beverages typically were served in cups rather than mugs, so it seems likely this piece was designed as a shaving mug. At today’s table, it is more likely to be used as a coffee mug, which men in particular seem to appreciate..

The mug stands 3 1/8 inches high (8 cm). It will hold 8 ounces.

Very good condition with no chips or cracks. Gold trim in very good condition.

Questions welcomed. Thanks for looking.
