Railroad Track \'Anvil\' for Blacksmiths, Knifemakers, or Jewelers. This rail is also a bit larger than those I have sold in the past, it is taller and has a heavier \'head\'. This rail weighs roughly 25 pounds. This section measures approximately 12 inches in length. ( They may vary between 11-7/8 to 12-1/8 on the length ) They are roughly 5 inches tall and 4-1/2 inches across the foot. Top profile has about a 2 1/4 inch flat with both edges rolled over cleanly.
The head has been machined on the top and both sides to produce a flat working surface. This is very important to ensure true work and to prevent the anvil from imparting a curve in your projects. After machining, the top was surface ground to produce a smooth finish that won\'t transfer defects into your work. Sides and base are painted high temp black. The ends are unfinished, saw cut, and may not be cut perfectly square. This is due in part to how hard this material is and the wear on my old saw.
