DUPONT WAS ACTIVE DURING THE MEXICAN-AMERICAN WAR, IN WHICH HE TOOK SAN DIEGO AS WELL AS THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR. Having once headed the California blockade, he was an instrumental leader in the blockade of the southern states.

A RARE SIGNATURE FROM A VERY IMPORTANT TIME OF HIS SERVICE.
