Very Rarelantern. This one is marked THE ADAMS & WESTLAKE CO. NEW YORK-CHICAGO-PHILA on upper lid outside and BELT R. Y. ADLAKE No. 250 KERO on inner upper lid. Then PATD. U.S. MAY 5, 1908, SEPT. 21 1909, NOV 28-1911, APRIL1-1913 MAY 9-1922 CANADA 1921-1923 PATS. PENDING, all on outer rim of lid. (See pictures in case I missed something.) Kind of unique to be marked, R.Y. for Railyard rather than railroad.
One\'s like thisjust don\'t exist much outside of private collections. I had to look at the stamp a few times. I have only seen one like it and one that sold online that I could find. Either the \"Belt R.Y.\" was an uncommon mark or few have sold in many years. The No. 250 Adlake burner lanterns were produced from 1925-1930 before the more popular & numerous No. 300-400\'s came along.
So if you are a collector looking for rare lanterns, this is for you. The lantern is in really great shape, but still needs some general cleaning.
It has only a few dings in thetop, but they do not effect appeal of lantern. The bottom is in great shape fora lantern of this age. It has a nice # 250 Adlake Burner. Everything seems complete & functional.
Very nice Adlake Kero Corning globe with an air bubble or two. Great vintage look.
I will not remove the lantern from the to sell privately, regardless of price. I have been askedsuch thingsdozens oftimes on rarer items I list, so you just need tooffer what you feel comfortable with. I will ship with utmost care and concern. I usually pack globe out of lantern with loads of cushioning around all items.
