Rare Antique WALNUT Sewing ETUI with Miniature Gilt Needlework Tools. Paris c.1820
This beautiful needlework set would have originated in Paris, most likely the Palais Royal, during the early 1800s. Formed during a time rich in social history as Napoleon Bonaparte battled against Lord Nelson and the English. This tiny needlework set would have been a wonderful talking point - it is set inside the shell of a Spanish walnut. The shell has been set into an ornately engraved hinged frame and the tiny gilded tools rest on a blue silk base. The tools are complete and in great condition.A set similar to this can be seen in the wonderful book by Nerylla Taunton - Antique Needlework tools and embroideries, p.125.
We would like you to be happy with any purchase and so returns are accepted. We are happy to combine items for postage, whenever possible. Many thanks :)
