For sale is beautiful 6\" brass ships clock. The clock is in excellent condition with a nice polished brass case. The clock is running and keeping excellent time.It measures 7 5/8\" across the back with a 6\" dial and a 5 1/4\" chapter ring.The case is stamped Chelsea Clock Co. with the serial number 22497. This matches the serial number on he movement 22497B and dates the clock to 1904. The B indicates it was made under the Boston Clock Co name.

The clock was made for Wilfrid O White of Boston in 1904. Wilfrid O White was a nautical and navigation instrument maker. According to the Smithsonian, National Museum of American History he was born Australia, but studied in Glasgow with the first Lord Kelvin, of the Kelvin scale and absolute zero fame. White came to Boston in 1902 and started work, and later established the firm Kelvin & Wilfrid O White in 1919. In 1950 the firm\'s name was changed to Wilfrid O White & Sons.There are a number of his instruments available, but this is the first clock I have seen with only his name dating to the start of his business in Boston.
A correct early Chelsea batwing style key is included.
