EXTREMELY RARE OPPORTUNITY: ORIGINAL LAST PHOTOGRAPH EVER TAKEN OF WILLIAM F. "BUFFALO BILL" CODY JUST DAYS BEFORE HIS DEATH IN 1917
This is an original one of a kind photo of Cody at the train station in Denver Co, where he arrived to go to his sister May\'s home due to extreme sickness. The photo is 9.5 by 7 inches and is Sepia. PLEASE NOTE, TO PREVENT ATTEMPTS AT FORGING COPIES, WE ADDED A WATERMARK ON THE PICTURE OF THE PHOTO. THE PHOTO WILL NOT HAVE THIS ON IT WHEN YOU BUY IT.
Cody came to his sister May\'s home to convalesce due to illness. He traveled from Glenwood Springs where he had stayed at the Glenwood Springs Hotel to enjoy the recuperative waters of the springs. While there he became violently ill and decided to travel to his sister\'s home on Lafaytte sT. in Denver, Co to heal. Unfortunately, he passed away while there. Thus, again, this photo was the last ever made of this great man and famous entertainer.
Our client, at one time, owned the largest private collection of Buffalo Bill letters in the world. Along with those, he collected a huge amount of other memorabilia of Cody\'s. This photo was acquired at an sale in 1988 conducted by Butterfield and Butterfield. This sale dispersed a collection of Cody memorabilia that was the property of Mae Cody Decker\'s (Bill\'s older sister.) She had maintained this property for many, many years.
We have included a picture of the sale Catalog that our client kept and and some pictures of excerpts from that catalog to add validation and provenance to the photo offered. THE CATALOG WILL NOT BE INCLUDED WITH THIS SALE...IT IS SHOWN SIMPLY TO PROVIDE VERIFICATION.
