Rare PLAINS BEADED KNIFE SHEATH - SIOUX, c. 1890sAuthentic - Great Bead Colors - Good Condition This is a rare authentic Plains beaded knife sheath, probably Sioux in origin, and circa 1890s, or so. Sheath is made with rawhide that is covered with soft native tanned hide on the front, and it is 9 1/4\" long and 2 5/8\" wide. There are 2 hide thong drops at the bottom that are 4\" long , and they are wrapped with white quill work and finished with tin cones. The hide thong belt hanger also has 2 tin cones that have old red trade cloth attached. Beads are all sinew sewn, and the colors include white heart reds, greasy yellow, dark cobalt blue, grass green, pink, and light blue at the top edge. Condition is excellent and original with no damage and no bead loss, and there has been no restoration. Note the old collection numbers written in ink on the back, as pictured. This sheath has a great design and a very pleasing color palette, making for a beautiful example of a Plains beaded knife sheath.
