RARE US Civil War AMES Model 1860 Cavalry Sword w/ Scabbard USADK 1865 Marked:

Ames sword works Chicopee Mass. US Army civil war sword. Scabbard looks original but painted black and now has chipped paint.

Sword does not look tampered with or repaired. Leather wrapped grip looks to be in reasonable condition. Blade has proper patina for sword of this age. \"Ames\" lightly stamped on opposite side of side with USADK stamped. If additional photos are needed I can send them to you upon request. I believe it\'s US inspected by \"king\". Blade length is approx. 34 inches. Width of blade is a little over one inch.

scabbard has thick brass rings with no breaks and a seam line which I\'m told is proper.

Black coating maybe have been placed on by Army in an attempt to hide glare on metal.
