The serial number is 566*** and there is NO “Made In USA” stamp (which did not appear until 1970). The numbers are stamped into the wood.

Overall the guitar is in EXCELLENT to VERY GOOD (for a 45 year old instrument) but it is most definitely a player’s guitar – with all the associated Mojo that can only come from an original 1969 Gibson. We’re not sure if the case is original, but look at the pictures – you be the judge. We could find no indication of repair work of any kind – the tuners we suspect are not original, but the rest of the guitar appears to be original and unmodified.

Look – we’re not guitar guys, but we’ve done our homework. This was found buried in a pile of stuff as part of an abandoned estate, so we don’t really know the history. But research would indicate that there were only two versions of this guitar: the one piece and the three piece neck. We’re not sure which this is, but look at the pictures: what you see is what you get.

You can find more recent Gibson SG Customs running from $3000 on up (we know you’ll check ) but let’s face it – they aren’t making anymore original 1969s, so this may be your last chance to own a guitar of this quality and this vintage. We have no way of testing the electronics, but take a look at the pictures, again, this looks pretty darn clean for a 1969.
