RARE VINTAGE MARXOLIN, Pianolin, Ukelin, Zither, Autoharp, Marxochime, LOOK:
$100.00

This is a unique and quite rare old Marxolin made by the Marxochime Colony in the early 1900s.It features four chords and 16 melody strings, and a very unusual shape.Henry Charles Marx (1875-1946/1947?) and his company, the Marxochime Colony in New Troy, Michigan, produced several different instruments with the name \"Marxolin\", according to the internet. This Marxolin has a wonderful, unusual asymmetrical shape, and a silvery greenish-gray color, and is not something you see very often. All of the strings are there; 16 melody strings, and 16 chord strings, (4 chords) for a total of 32 strings. Each of the 4 chords contains 4 strings: one wound string and three unwound strings.Near the top is a gold and black \"shield\" shaped decal, (or painted, I can\'t tell) that says:MADE IN USAThe soundhole has an art-deco style flowery decoration around it, gold, brown, gray, black, blue, and pink! There is a label inside the sound hole:TO INTRODUCE THE MARXOLIN

MARXOCHIME COLONY
NEW TROY, MICHUnderneath the melody strings are two long gold decorations, with black numbers. If you look very closely, the gold appears to have been re-touched in several spots. There is a black and gold decoration underneath the chord strings that has letters, also musical notes on a staff. The \"bridges\" are painted gold. The \"tailpiece\" at the bottom is black. On one side, there is a small, thin, pivoting rectangle of black wood, to hold that side up off the table. There is a tiny, almost invisible crack in the tailpiece (underneath); a small dent on the edge; a small section of the back has separated from the body ; two tiny screw holes in the back, probably for display. (See photos and close-ups)Overall, it appears to be in great shape! It measures about 24 inches in length, 3 1/2 inches wide at the bottom, and 8 1/2 inches wide at the widest point.I know nothing about playing this instrument. I have never attempted to play, tune or restore this antique instrument in any way.As a cool instrument, a restoration project, a conversation piece, sitting on a shelf or hanging on the wall, it is a great vintage goodie for any musician or collector.THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE THE BEST DESCRIPTION; look closely, do your own research, and ask any questions before offerding.Your good response gets mine.
