This is a rather clean original example of the extremely scarce RCA Radiola IX. The same chassis was used in the even less commonly found Radiola VIIB. This unusual five-tube chassis was designed to be exceptionally thin so that it could be mounted in either the lid of a talking machine, in the record compartment of a talking machine or in a special compartment reserved for it. This unit comes complete with its original batter box, which is in excellent condition, rust free, with full, glossy original paint, braring just a few minor abrasions, all of which are clearly pictured in the photographs. The original connection diagram is also present and in excellent condition, as are the special battery connectors which were exclusive to this unit. The original wiring harness is also present, and is too in excellent condition, retaining its original terminals and terminal designation tabs. Even the long antenna and ground wires retain their full length and original mugs and identification Flags.The set is sold with a full set of good V-99 tubes, and is in perfect operating condition. The rubber straps on which the tube sockets hang have been replaced with appropriate modern material.
The two audio frequency transformers were replaced by a previous owner with excellent modern units. I regret that he did not retain the originals, for I would have had them rewound. Otherwise the set is just as it was when it left the Wireless Specialty works in Boston back in 1923 or 1924.This is a truly fine example of a very scarce set, one of the keys to the early Radiola line.This set will be carefully double-boxed in custom foam packaging to insure it\'s safe arrival at your doorstep. The battery box will be boxed separately, with the tubes, wiring harness and battery connectors carefully packed inside. Insurance will be included at no charge. The radio parcel will measure 26\" x 24\" x 14\" and will weigh 21 lbs. the battery box parcel will measure 22\" x 14\" x 14\" and will weigh 16 lbs.
