About 2 3/8\" X 4\". End of shackle is broken off; chain clevis frozen; casting flaw on dust cover.However---dust cover works fine; internal springs present and not frozen.Date coded for April 1898.
Lock is very similar if not identical to earlier locks made by the Central Pacific Railroad in their Sacramento, California shops.
