If you love using transitional hand-planes then you should try Stanley\'s #25 low-angle smoother. For those that understand the difference, wood-to-wood planing provides a feel in the work like no other. Alas, this one is no hot-house flower. This one has seen a life of work and as such with a sharp iron and in the right hands do the job in true historic fashion. This is the one you want if you want to work wood with a transitional plane. It would also be a conversation starter for anyone interested in old ways of working wood. Also, for some reason I can\'t imagine, the cap screw looks like it was mauled by a bear. It turns freely and works as designed. Other than that, this specimen displays the beautiful natural purple-brown patina where the japanning has let go of the iron. This cannot be faked. The blade is near full length too. The Stanley iron is fine but I\'d opt for a better iron such as those made by Hock, Ray Isles, Veritas or Lie-Neilsen. A rarity in proper condition equal to it\'s vintage. Good luck!See the pics!As always, the item is offered with no reservations save that which is contained in the foregoing description.
I want you to be happy with your purchase.
